Folkmore Application

★ Character Information ★
Character Name:
Character Age: 20
Character Species: Human
Current Health: Well
Outfit: Fran's outfit

Character Canon:
Link to History: Fran's history can be found here
Canon Iteration: Aged up
Canon Iteration Explanation: I tend to play Fran as though the events of the game happened when she was fourteen or fifteen, and the last five years have had her traveling between our realm and the kingdom of Ithersta. Now that she is old enough to properly understand her role as Keeper of Keys, the King and the Great Wizard have been teaching her more about the realm of Ithersta, their language, and how she as the Keeper of Keys can help keep the darkness out of Ithersta. When she's in our realm, she lives in her childhood home and does what most people call "aura cleansing", but what she just sees as dumping water on the Kamalas that are feasting on the souls of her clients. Either way, her clients leave her house feeling lighter and more optimistic around life in general.
★ Folkmore Roles & Attributes ★

Skills: - Puzzle solving
- Potion making
- Demon (Kamala) extermination
Canon Abilities: Seeing into the other realms of reality, talking to and understanding her cat
Role: Legend
Role Qualities/Attributes: Halo, emotion-color changing eyes, enhanced bravery
Role Reasoning: Fran is already a brave young woman who has managed to turn away from all the temptations of the demon Remor, despite his promises to bring her parents back, and stuck to the path of good in order to achieve her goals. She honest, almost to a fault, and genuinely wants to see the good in everybody. She strives to see the good side of things, and the light side of life, which is why I feel she would fit well as a Legend.
★ Personality ★

Please choose one of the follow options for your personality section. Please clarify which option you have picked and, if option 2, which questions you are answering:

Option 1. Summarize your character's personality in general and what their full potential would look like to them and what they would be willing to go through to meet that potential and what gaining that potential would mean to them. 400-800 word requirement.

Option 2. Choose FOUR-FIVE of the following questions to answer and expand upon. You may choose a fifth question if you feel it is integral to your character's personality. Each answer has a 100-300 word requirement.

OPTION 2 QUESTIONS (PICK 4-5) 100-300 WORD LIMIT EACH:

  • What was the most traumatic experience your character endured? How did this change them?
  • The most traumatic experience that Fran has had to endure was absolutely, without a doubt, the murder of her parents by the demon Remor. Fran was a teen when this happened, and was institutionalized afterwards because no one believed her that it was a demon who murdered her parents, and perhaps even thought that Fran herself was the murderer. Her experiences with her parents’ death almost changed her outlook on life, causing her to be dangerously susceptible to the dark forces that were chasing after her. She nearly gave into them a few times, when they promised her to bring her mother back. However, the experience, in the end, helped her become a stronger person and even more determined to find the good in life, even while surrounded by so much darkness.
  • What are your characters dreams and nightmares? Do you believe they are more likely to obtain one rather than the other?
  • Fran’s dream is to live a happy life with her cat and her newfound friends that she made during her adventures in finding the truth behind her parents’ murders. Her worst nightmare is to become the dark mirror self that the demon Remor would send to her to try and convince her to give into the darkness and sadness within her. Because she has such a strong heart, and a desperate desire to see the light and goodness in the world and in other beings around her, she is more likely to achieve her dreams than succumb to her nightmares.
  • Is your character capable of forgiveness or will they hold a grudge until they die? Would anything ever make them change their mind?
  • Fran is very much capable of forgiveness. She did hold a grudge against Doctor Deern, who was her doctor at the hospital for a short time, before Doctor Palontras of Ithersta explained that Deern was likely trying to do the right thing, and Fran was able to forgive him quickly enough. I think she could even forgive her Aunt Grace, and be able to see that Grace was being manipulated into working against Fran. Fran, as previously stated, works hard to see the best and brightest in people, rather than jump to conclusions about them being bad just because she doesn’t understand their motivations.
  • What famous folklore, legend, or myth would you associate your character with? Are they literally inspired by Snow White? Do they have similar struggles or energy as Red Riding Hood?
  • Fran's canon draws a lot of influence from Alice in Wonderland. There are even canon references to Fran having been friends with Alice Liddell. The game tackles multiple realities and the idea of traveling between realities, much like Wonderland. Fran also wears Alice's rather infamous striped stockings, and encounters some white rabbit symbolism in the kingdom of Ithersta. She is also shown at several points going down various tunnels in order to make her escape, a nod to the infamous rabbit hole. In fact, it could be said that Fran’s canon is very much “What if we added demons to Alice in Wonderland?”
